Brightening a photo, adjusting colours or giving a series the same crop: you can now call on Adobe within Google Gemini to do these things. Adobe began rolling out the integration worldwide on September 24. You describe the edit you want, and the software gets to work.
Sometimes you know exactly what a photo needs, but still have to find the right button. The shadows could be more open, the colours a little more subdued. With Adobe in Gemini, you start with that description.
The integration offers features from Lightroom, Photoshop, Adobe Express and Firefly. It is a selection of tools; the full applications are not suddenly available inside the chat window.
Light, colour and a whole series
You can adjust light, colour and tone, crop images and edit several photos at once. Adobe gives product photography as an example: a series that needs more consistent brightness, colour and framing. Applying a Lightroom preset and creating variations for social media are also among the options.
The more specific your prompt, the clearer the direction. ‘Make this photo slightly brighter and keep the colours natural’ gives more guidance than ‘make it prettier’. A consistent photo-editing workflow remains useful, even when you leave the editing to an assistant.

Start a series with a few test images. The same edit will affect a sunlit portrait differently from a shot taken in the shade. And an identical crop may work well for one photo while cutting off a hand in another.
Keep using your own judgement
Sliders and masks may still feel more comfortable for subtle corrections. How much warmer should a face become? Where should a local adjustment stop? These decisions are often easier to make when you can see the effect directly.
The familiar layers, masks and selections in Photoshop therefore retain their value. According to Adobe, you can continue refining supported work in its own apps.
How to get started
Enable Adobe in Gemini’s connected apps, under Personal Intelligence, and sign in with an Adobe account. Then type @Adobe, add a photo and describe what you want to do.
The integration is rolling out across all Gemini plans, but currently supports English only. A starting prompt could be: “Make this photo slightly brighter and keep the colours natural.” Some features require an eligible paid Adobe plan.
Try it with a photo you already know how you want to improve. You will soon discover whether a short prompt saves you time, or whether you would have found the slider faster.
