Leica Camera AG celebrates a century of 35mm photography with the introduction of the Leica MONOPAN 50, a new black-and-white film that brings the character of the analogue image to life. This ISO 50 film with 36 shots goes back to the origins of photography and is designed for photographers who consciously choose the craft, the rhythm of the past and confidence in their own eyes and hands.
The MONOPAN 50 is Leica's first real one 35mm film and pays tribute to the revolutionary Leica I, which transformed photography in 1925.
With an ultra-fine grain structure, a resolution of up to 280 line pairs per millimeter and a spectral sensitivity of up to 780 nm, the film delivers stunning sharpness and an exceptional tonal range for both large format prints or detailed scans.

What makes MONOPAN 50 so special is the delay it enforces. The low ISO value requires patience, conscious work with light and creative use of large apertures - even in bright daylight. This creates that characteristic Leica bokeh: soft and sharp.
Thanks to its extended spectral sensitivity, this film is also particularly suitable for infrared photography, in combination with Leica color filters.

Made in Germany and compatible with all black and white developers, MONOPAN 50 is ideal for landscapes, architecture, cityscapes and travel photography. The retro packaging evokes the atmosphere of Leica heritage, while the technical performance invites you to capture new stories.
