The new Leica Q3

Leica Q3

The recently introduced Leica Q3 camera offers quality in both photography and videography and is equipped with an extra-bright wide-angle lens. In addition, the camera has specially integrated mechanical macro modes and a range of new features.

The heart of the Leica Q3 is the new Leica BSI CMOS sensor with Triple Resolution Technology. Raw images in DNG format, or edited JPEG files with a perfect Leica look, can be created directly in the camera with a resolution of 60, 36 or 18 megapixels.

Shooting at 60 MP captures even the finest details and textures, while shooting at 36 or 18 MP allows faster camera operation, longer image bursts and smaller file sizes.

The Leica Q3 uses the full size of the sensor for all resolutions and has a sensitivity range from 50 to 100,000 ISO. Two new practical assistants, Leica Perspective Control (LPC) and Leica Dynamic Range (LDR), now provide JPEG images without the need for post-processing.

Finally, the latest generation of the Leica Maestro processor with L2 technology ensures better processing speed when working with these types of high resolutions and large files.

With its integrated macro mode, the Leica Q3 also close-up shots from a minimum focusing distance of only 17 cm (measured from the sensor). In addition to the high resolution, this 3rd generation member of the Leica Q family also an extended digital zoom. This allows the user to choose from focal lengths of 28, 35, 50, 75 and now up to 90 mm.

A new hybrid phase detection autofocus system ensures fast and accurate focusing, even when tracking fast-moving subjects.

Another innovative feature is the 3-inch tiltable touchscreen, which provides a wide range of angles for viewing and capturing images, expanding the creative possibilities when taking photos and videos.

The camera is equipped with advanced Multiple Input Multiple Output technology, which makes the transfer speed to the Leica FOTOS app ten times faster, compared to the Leica Q2.

With a stable connection and fast data transfer to the Leica FOTOS app, it is now possible to upload videos from the camera to a smartphone or import special 'Leica Looks' into the camera for "Straight Out Of Camera" JPEG recordings.

Furthermore, external devices such as gimbals, power banks and display recorders can be connected directly to the Leica Q3 via USB-C and HDMI. For studio work, or with a laptop on location, Tethered shooting is possible Capture One or the Adobe Lightroom plug-in can be worked using the USB-C connection.

Fully wireless charging of the Leica Q3 is now possible with the new Leica Charging Pad and separately available new camera handle.

The new accessories also offer a wide range of options for creating an individual look. Leather protectors, lens caps, retro-look lens hoods, thumb rests, soft shutter buttons and hot shoe covers will also be available in three different colors.

Leica Q3 is available for a suggested retail price of €6,250.00 including VAT.
