The second-generation Leica Q3 Monochrom marks a new chapter in the development of compact, full-frame mirrorless cameras. It is all about light and shadow.
One hundred years ago, the Leica I camera defied every convention. As the first mass-produced 35mm camera, it changed photography forever. That spirit of innovation lives on in Leica’s monochrome cameras. They stand for pure black-and-white photography, deliberately leaving color behind. This approach challenges photographers to explore new visual frontiers.

As the second monochrome generation in the Leica Q series, the Leica Q3 Monochrom brings photography back to its essence. Its dedicated black-and-white sensor records only luminance information. The 60 MP sensor with Triple Resolution Technology delivers extreme sharpness, a wide dynamic range, and rich grayscale tones, with no color filters and no compromises.
You can capture images at 60, 36, or 18 MP, with an ISO range of 100 to 200.000, while video recording is available at up to 8K.
Thanks to the fast Leica Summilux 28 f/1.7 ASPH. wide-angle lens, the camera produces images with low noise, subtle tonal gradations, and rich textures, even in challenging light. The design remains true to the modern Q style while conveying a distinctly monochrome aesthetic.

Made in Germany with craftsmanship evident in every detail: a metal body, black lens hood, and subtle engravings in black or gray. The leather covering is stylish and refined. The red Leica logo is deliberately omitted, reinforcing the minimalist character.
Classic Black and White with Modern Technology
The Leica Q3 Monochrom delivers powerful performance, with a bright and sharp 5,76-megapixel OLED viewfinder, fast and precise hybrid autofocus, and a tilting touchscreen. Macro shots are possible from 17 cm, with full control through the choice of autofocus or manual focus.
The camera is robustly built and carries an IP52 rating for protection against dust and splashes. With digital zoom from 28 to 90 mm and extensive video features, the Q3 Monochrom offers many possibilities for high-quality black-and-white imagery.

With Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C, and Micro HDMI connectivity, the camera works seamlessly with the Leica FOTOS app. Images can be transferred quickly and securely.
The user interface is clear and logically organized. Photo and video functions are visually separated by their own color schemes. Icons and menu navigation are intuitive. This entirely new interface is also available via a firmware update for the Leica Q3 and Leica Q3 43.
The Q3 Monochrom is also the first camera in the Q series to support Content Credentials technology for digitally signing photos in accordance with the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI). This allows anyone to verify their origin and any edits, making it a powerful tool in the fight against fake news.
