Leica Cameras Arrive in Metal Gray

Leica Introduces Cameras and Lens in Metallic Gray

Leica is introducing a new metallic gray paint finish for several existing cameras and accessories. The new color is consistent with the understated design language Leica has followed for many years. Clean lines, minimal ornamentation, and functional controls remain the guiding principles. The metallic gray finish gives the cameras a subtly different appearance without significantly altering the existing design.

The finish will be available on the Leica M11-P, Leica Q3, and Leica D-Lux 8, as well as the Leica APO-Summicron-M 50 f/2 ASPH. This gives Leica a third color option alongside the classic black and silver versions.

Leica M11-P and APO-Summicron-M 50 in Metal Gray Paint Finish

The Leica M11-P is one of the first models to appear in the new Metal Gray Paint Finish. Like the other M cameras, it is built by hand at the Leica factory in Wetzlar, Germany. The new version does not change the camera’s technical foundation, but primarily offers a new aesthetic option for photographers looking for a distinctive yet still classic Leica appearance.

The metallic gray cameras feature a leather covering with a diamond pattern. This not only gives the models a recognizable appearance, but also provides extra grip and a clearly tactile texture. The finish is therefore both a visual and practical part of the design.

On the Leica M11-P, the new color scheme matches the Leica APO-Summicron-M 50 f/2 ASPH., which will also be available in metallic gray. Together, the camera and lens form a coordinated set. Technically, the lens is unchanged from the existing version; the difference lies in the finish and the matching appearance within the M system.

Leica Q3 and D-Lux 8 in Metal Gray Paint Finish

The Leica Q3 and Leica D-Lux 8 will also be available in the new metallic gray paint finish. The Q3 is Leica’s compact full-frame camera with a fixed lens, while the D-Lux 8 is a smaller compact camera for everyday use and spontaneous moments. Both models retain their existing technical foundation; the new version primarily adds a different finish to the current lineup.

The metallic gray color complements the clean, minimalist design of both cameras. It creates a more subdued alternative to the existing versions without changing their controls or functionality.

Leica is also introducing matching accessories alongside the cameras. The range includes carrying straps and protective cases made from dark brown leather. These accessories are intended to complement the new color visually and better protect the cameras during use.
