The Leica Q2 “Dawn” limited edition was designed by singer, Grammy winner and photographer Seal. This special edition pays tribute to the soulful lyrics of Seal's songs and the human connection in photographic art.
The Leica Q2 “Dawn” by Seal draws attention to the subject while also offering a distinctive perspective on the artist behind the camera. Its hand-woven Japanese fabric makes each of the five hundred cameras unique.
The fabric is inspired by the golden glow of sunrise and the interplay of light and shadow. An exclusive scarf featuring Seal’s handwritten lyrics was also available with the limited-edition set.

The Japanese term “komorebi” inspired the covering of this special edition. Komorebi describes the transparency and interplay of light as sunlight filters through leaves. Made by the Japanese brand Hosoo, the covering represents a new milestone in weaving. It combines black thread (93% polyester) with gold-colored Japanese paper (7% washi).
Seal's photography is in line with his music Seal’s photography reflects his music and highlights the beauty and humanity of a moment. That feeling formed the core of this special edition’s visual philosophy.
The limited-edition scarf in the Q2 “Dawn” set was designed by multimedia artist Annina Roescheisen, who interpreted Seal’s lyrics through golden elements on a black background. The design evokes light emerging from darkness. The scarf was developed by New York fashion label rag & bone and produced in Italy.
The set includes a unique camera strap bearing the handwritten lyric “you became the light on the dark side of me” from Kiss from a Rose. In addition to its distinctive covering, the Q2 “Dawn” has a black Leica logo, Seal’s engraved signature and an edition number. The camera was introduced at the opening of Seal’s photo exhibition at Leica Store Gallery in Los Angeles.

The technical specifications of the Leica Q2 “Dawn” match those of the standard Leica Q2, including a 47.3-megapixel full-frame sensor and a fast Leica Summilux 28 f/1.7 ASPH. lens with autofocus.
The Leica Q2's sensor offers a dynamic range of 14 stops (at ISO 100) and a color depth of 14 bits. The camera can shoot in both DNG and JPEG formats, offers 4K video resolution at 30 or 24 frames per second (fps), Cinema 4K at 24 fps and full HD recording up to 120 fps.
The digital zoom changes the framing from 28mm (47.3 MP) to 35mm (30 MP), 50mm (15 MP) or 75mm (7 MP). Thanks to the lens quality, images made with the 75mm field of view retain fine detail and strong contrast.
Price and availability
At launch, the Leica Q2 “Dawn” by Seal was limited to five hundred units and announced for exclusive availability at Leica Store Amsterdam and Leica Store Lisse, at a recommended retail price of €6,350.00 including VAT. The white version of the scarf was also offered there.
