The new RF-S 3.9mm F3.5 STM Dual Fisheye is an APS-C virtual reality (VR) lens added to the EOS R System, alongside the existing RF 5.2mm F2.8L DUAL FISHEYE. The dual, high-quality fisheye lenses allow you to create stereoscopic 3D 180° VR images with a 144° field of view, all on a single image sensor.
Double fisheye lenses contain two separate lenses placed side by side to simulate “human binocular vision”. Each lens captures an image from a slightly different perspective, creating two separate images that correspond to the vision of the left and right eyes. This stereoscopic effect enhances depth perception VR possible, making the experience more intense.

The new 144-degree shooting angle offers a smaller field of view than VR180 shooting. The large depth of field makes it easier for users to focus on their subject. This means there is less chance that additional equipment such as lighting or tripods will come into view.
The focus ring can be adjusted for other functions such as aperture or ISO, providing practical shooting solutions and helping users focus on the action. This 3D lens from Canon has a One Shot Autofocus (AF) setting to simplify the creation process.
It is the first Canon lens outside the L-series with high-quality Air Sphere coating to prevent flare and... reflections to reduce. The lens contains two UD elements per lens for sharp images. The aperture of f/3.5 ensures high-quality images in various locations, both indoors and outdoors.

This fisheye lens is suitable for a variety of environments, from dimly lit forests to brightly lit stadiums. Moreover, this one has a filter holder on the back for screw-on and gelatin filters, which offers additional creative possibilities.
When viewing images captured with the RF-S 3.9mm F3.5 STM Dual Fisheye in a headset, the 3D stereoscopic lens provides a realistic experience. The 144-degree viewing angle delivers a natural, forward view that uses peripheral vision to fully immerse the viewer. The lens's 60mm interpupillary distance, comparable to human vision, provides a realistic 3D effect when using a compatible headset.
