Canon is introducing two new RF lenses for photographers who like to go wide: the RF 7–14mm F2.8–3.5L Fisheye STM and the RF 14mm F1.4L VCM. Both are L-series lenses, but they have very different characters.
The RF 7–14mm is designed to create images that immediately stand out. On a full-frame camera, 7mm produces a circular fisheye image with a field of view of up to 190°, while 14mm produces a frame-filling diagonal fisheye image. Another practical feature: Canon uses a drop-in filter system, useful for quickly switching between creative looks and exposure control.
The RF 14mm f/1.4 is intended for photographers who want to keep straight lines while maximizing light-gathering ability. Its combination of 14mm and f/1.4 is well suited to night photography, astrophotography, interiors, and architecture. Canon also emphasizes that the lens was designed for hybrid photo and video use.
RF 7–14mm F2.8–3.5L Fisheye STM: 190° and Drop-In Filters
This unusual lens provides two looks on a full-frame camera. At 7mm you get a circular fisheye image with an angle of view up to 190°, and at 14mm a full-frame diagonal fisheye image (180°). On APS-C, the widest setting can be limited to approximately 8.7mm for a frame-filling diagonal fisheye look.

Canon also includes a drop-in filter system, allowing you to quickly switch between an optional circular polarizer and a variable ND filter, for example. The lens is designed for subjects ranging from action sports and landscapes to astrophotography and expressive portraits. With a minimum focusing distance of 0.15 m, you can work extremely close for added exaggeration and impact.
For video, Canon highlights quiet STM autofocus and focus-breathing suppression. Footage captured with a compatible camera can also be converted into 2D 180° VR files with EOS VR Utility.

RF 14mm F1.4L VCM: Ultra-Fast and Sharp to the Corners
The RF 14mm F1.4L VCM is Canon’s new ultra-wide-angle prime for creators who want an extremely wide view and a very large aperture. Its diagonal field of view is 114°, making it suitable for landscapes, interiors, and architecture as well as night photography and astrophotography, where the large maximum aperture helps keep shutter speeds short.

Despite combining a 14mm focal length with an f/1.4 aperture, the lens remains relatively compact and portable. Canon also emphasizes hybrid use, with focus-breathing suppression, smooth controls, and additional video-oriented features.
