Woerden Castle Photographers’ Café Program, October 13, 2025
On October 13, 2025, the Photographers’ Café at Woerden Castle organized a varied program for photography enthusiasts.
18.00: The photographers’ dinner took place in the Van Ommeren Room at the Castle.
The evening began at 19.30 with Fotoplaza opening the program.
20.00: The featured guest was Eddo Hartman, documentary photographer. He spoke about Urgent Themes with Great Expressive Power and showed beautiful images.
Eddo is one of the most distinctive Dutch documentary photographers. In his work, he explores the interplay between personal history, collective memory and political reality.
His lecture offered a rare opportunity to get an up-close look at the vision and working methods of a photographer who makes urgent themes visible with great expressive power.
One of his first major series, Hier woont mijn huis - marked the beginning of his artistic exploration. It was followed by Setting the Stage: North Korea, in which Hartmann captured the carefully orchestrated streetscape and control of this closed country with exceptional precision.
The Sacrifice Zone, winner of the Sony World Photography Awards, depicts the devastating consequences of decades of nuclear weapons testing in Kazakhstan.
Hartmann's photography has received international acclaim and was on view at the Rijksmuseum at the time.
The evening concluded from 21.15 with portfolio reviews by four professional photographers and De Lange Tafel.
The reviewers have years of experience in the world of photography and extensive experience as coaches and mentors. Their advice gave visitors practical guidance for getting even more out of their photography.
