Tom D. Jones is a wildlife and fine art photographer. In 2012, he became the only Belgian ever to be named a Hasselblad Master, joining an impressive gallery of prominent names including Anton Corbijn, Albert Watson, and Marco Grob.
Tom D. Jones - Jurrasic Aura: "A great deal of research was needed to discover where I could find rhinos in their full glory and with a full horn. People rarely stop to think that there are only a few rhinos like these left on our planet. In the East, a bizarre superstition ensures that such animals will never be safe again. I remember sometimes searching for four days to find them.
But tracking them down was only the beginning. It’s impossible to transport such a creature to the evocative setting you see in your mind’s eye. And making pictures indistinguishable from so many others, when the world already has a glut of images, makes no sense to me. So, I waited patiently, watching the rhinos from afar until they ventured onto a dramatic stretch of rugged terrain. And only then did I pick up my camera."
