A leading compact size and lightweight Tamron lens with a constant aperture of F2.8, a telephoto range of up to 180mm and VC. The filter size is 67mm, the maximum diameter 83mm and the length at a focal length of 70mm is 156.5mm. The total weight is 855g.
Renewed optical design
The optical construction of the new 70-180mm F2.8 G2 zoom consists of twenty elements in fifteen groups. The design has been completely revised and the arrangement of special lens elements ensures control of chromatic aberration and other artefacts and delivers high resolution throughout the zoom range.
Ghosting and flare are suppressed by Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2 coating, capturing fine details and delivering clarity and contrast even in backlit situations. The large aperture of F2.8 provides a soft bokeh.
Super-fast and highly accurate VXD AF with improved subject tracking
The new 70-180mm F2.8 G2 zoom is equipped with a VXD linear motor focusing mechanism that was already used in the first generation model. Tracking performance when tracking moving subjects, such as sports action and vehicles, has been further improved while maintaining Tamron's fast, highly accurate autofocus.
The improved performance ensures that you as a photographer don't miss decisive moments, whether you're taking photos or videos. The linear motor also suppresses vibration and noise during AF more effectively than conventional drive systems, making it ideal for shooting both stills and videos in environments where silence is required.
Equipped with TAMRON's own VC image stabilization
VCimage stabilization Effectively suppresses camera shake that occurs when shooting telephoto, panning to capture moving objects, or focusing close. This makes stable handheld photography possible.
