With the introduction of the Z5 II, Nikon takes the next step in the Z5 series. The camera is aimed at photographers looking for a versatile full-frame camera with many features also found in professional models. The Z5 II combines a compact build with an extensive set of capabilities for both photography and video.
The Nikon Z5 II features a 24.5-megapixel FX-format sensor with in-body image stabilization. Thanks to Nikon’s latest image processor, handheld shots are better stabilized, with support for focus-point VR: up to 7.5 stops of stabilization at the center of the frame and up to 6 stops at the edges. The maximum ISO range is 64,000 for stills and 51,200 for video, with advanced noise reduction for better low-light results.
The autofocus system is considerably faster than the previous generation—by up to 68%—and operates reliably down to -10 LV. Support for multiple-subject detection and 3D tracking helps maintain accurate focus, even in challenging situations.
For composition, the camera has an electronic viewfinder with a maximum brightness of 3,000 cd/m² and 18 brightness levels. The Z5 II also features a fully articulating and tilting monitor with a 170-degree viewing angle. Its display automatically adjusts to the camera’s orientation.
For video production, the Nikon Z5 II supports 4K/30p and 4K/60p with a crop, with the option to record N-RAW directly to an SD card. N-Log recording is also available for users who want greater flexibility in color grading. Nikon’s free RED LUTs can be used to apply cinematic color profiles. The camera includes ports for an external microphone and headphones for improved audio capabilities.
The controls are designed to feel familiar to Nikon users. The grip is deeper and the buttons are positioned more logically than on the original Z5. The Z5 II supports two UHS-II SD cards and is built with a weather-sealed magnesium-alloy body comparable to the Nikon Z6 III. Its weight remains relatively low at approximately 700 grams, body only.

- Real-time Picture Control lets users preview and apply different imaging recipes. These can also be adjusted and saved through Nikon NX Studio.
