Leica is expanding its M lens lineup with four special editions aimed primarily at enthusiasts of the classic M system and iconic design. They include three M lenses in the distinctive Safari finish and a new Classic version of the Summilux-M 50 mm f/1.4 in glossy black paint.
The new editions combine the familiar optical character of Leica M lenses with a distinctive finish, while retaining the same optical design as the standard versions.

Safari editions of three Leica M lenses
Leica is introducing the Summilux-M 35 mm f/1.4 ASPH., the Summilux-M 50 mm f/1.4 ASPH., and the Summicron-M 28 mm f/2 ASPH. in the classic Safari finish. This edition is characterized by its matte olive-green finish, which is both visually distinctive and known for its durability.
The lenses are designed to complement the Leica M11-P Safari and feature recognizable details such as a silver-colored focusing tab made of chrome-plated brass, a red foot marker, and a white distance scale in meters. Their minimum focusing distance has also been reduced, offering additional flexibility for documentary and street photography.
Optically and mechanically, the Safari editions are identical to the standard versions in the Leica M system. The only differences are their finish and appearance.

Summilux-M 50 mm f/1.4 Classic in glossy black paint
Alongside the Safari editions, Leica is also introducing a new Classic version of the Summilux-M 50 mm f/1.4, finished in glossy black paint. This is one of the most popular finishes in the M system and recalls historic Leica lenses from the film era.
Over time, the black paint develops a patina that may reveal the brass underneath. As a result, each lens acquires a unique character with extensive use. The lens comes with a matching round lens hood, also finished in glossy black.
