With a sensor designed exclusively for black-and-white photography, the Leica M11 Monochrom focuses on the most fundamental photographic process: creating images solely through light and shadow.
When Leica Camera AG decided in 2012 to be the only manufacturer in the world to develop a camera with a special black-and-white sensor, the Leica M Monochrom, this was questioned. Today, in the eleventh year of the Monochrom success story, Leica introduces the fourth generation of cameras with a black-and-white sensor: the new Leica M11 Monochrom.
With the monochrome multi-resolution full-frame sensor, exclusively developed for the new M generation, the Leica M11 Monochrom delivers special black-and-white images. You can photograph with Raw files in DNG format or JPEGs with a resolution of 60, 36 or 18 megapixels.
In combination with the enormous ISO range of 125 to 200,000, the camera gives a lot of creative freedom when photographing. The result is images with reproductions of even the finest details, exceptionally natural-looking definition even in difficult lighting conditions, and exceptionally low noise levels even in the high ISO range.
With an internal memory of 256 GB and easy connectivity with the Leica FOTOS app, the mobile workflow is optimized. You can quickly and easily transfer photos to the app via Bluetooth or USB-C port and edit them from there. In addition, you can control the camera directly from the app and preview photos on your smartphone or tablet with tethered preview.
In addition, the Leica M11 Monochrom is a certified Apple "Made for iPhone and iPad" accessory and therefore offers unique possibilities with the included Leica FOTOS cable.
With a full metal housing and a top plate made of high-quality aluminum, a sapphire glass display, full leather upholstery and a black, scratch-resistant paint layer, the M11 Monochrom presents itself in a timeless and unobtrusive M design.
Details such as the conscious omission of the Leica logo and the dark chrome coating of the optical viewfinder underline the reduced, iconic design of this new addition to the legendary Leica M family.
High resolution Leica M lenses
Two of Leica’s most versatile M lenses were redesigned and optimized for the protective-glass thickness and high resolution of the Leica M11 Monochrom and M11 sensors. They are the new Leica Summilux-M 50 f/1.4 ASPH and the Leica Summilux-M 35 f/1.4 ASPH.
