Magnum America presents a visual history of the United States spanning eight decades. This epic book from the world's most prestigious photo agency features six hundred photographs of memorable events, colorful celebrities, and ordinary and extraordinary Americans.
A nation portrayed by Magnum photographers, who view the country as both engaged reporters and artists.
Each decade from the 1940s to the present is briefly introduced and presented in a bird's-eye overview, followed by narrative and thematic portfolios. From wars and terrorist attacks, entertainment and sports, to the civil rights movement's struggle and presidential elections, this monumental publication offers a fascinating visual portrait of America over the past eighty years and is destined to become a photo book classic.

Magnum America was compiled by Magnum photographer Peter van Agtmael and Laura Wexler, professor of American studies at Yale University. The book contains more than six hundred images by photographers including Eve Arnold, Paul Fusco, Susan Meiselas, W. Eugene Smith, Leonard Freed, Carl De Keyzer, Martin Parr, Bieke Depoorter, and Alec Soth.
