Elliott Erwitt’s New York

Elliott Erwitt’s New York

Many coffee-table books are devoted to New York, but none is quite like this one. In New York , photography legend Elliott Erwitt pays a monochrome tribute to the city he called home, creating a photo book of undeniable historical significance.

Born in Paris, Erwitt emigrated to the United States in 1939 and settled in the Big Apple in 1948. From then on, his camera was a constant companion as he wandered the streets of the metropolis.

In this revised edition, Erwitt presents compelling black-and-white photographs spanning his entire career. Sixteen new pages offer a first look at previously unpublished images from the fifties and sixties, immersing readers in the New York of a bygone era. A touch of nostalgia is guaranteed.

The photo book captures the soul of New York. Celebrities appear alongside everyday New Yorkers, while ordinary moments shape contemporary history with the cheerful, sometimes slightly offbeat sensibility characteristic of Erwitt’s work.
