Canon EOS R1 and Canon EOS R5 Mark II system cameras

Canon EOS R1 and Canon EOS R5 Mark II full-frame system cameras

The launch of the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II full-frame system cameras marks an important moment for Canon. The EOS R1 is packed with advanced features that enable professional news and sports photographers to capture the perfect shot every time. The EOS R5 Mark II, on the other hand, is designed for a wide range of hybrid professionals, allowing them to realize any creative project.

For the first time, both camera models are equipped with the new 'Accelerated Capture' imaging platform, consisting of the new DIGIC Accelerator processor, the powerful DIGIC X image processor and newly developed high-speed image sensors.

The DIGIC Accelerator supports the processing of large amounts of data and works together with Deep Learning technologies. This combination offers improved performance and new features in autofocus, continuous shooting and recording quality.

Thanks to this new imaging platform, the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II feature the latest version of Dual Pixel CMOS - Dual Pixel Intelligent AF. This technology offers improvements such as more accurate subject tracking by recognizing players' faces and upper bodies and avoiding obstacles or other players.

In addition, specific faces can be registered and tracked with priority. The new 'Action Priority' mode automatically recognizes common actions action positions in basketball, football and volleyball, following the main subject in fast and dynamic situations and capturing the key moment of action.

Eye-control AF, which lets you easily capture the subject you want by looking into the viewfinder without using buttons to move the AF point, is now available in the EOS R5 Mark II and has been improved in both models.

It now offers twice the performance of the EOS R3, with a sensor with more pixels, improved LEDs, a larger eye detection area and a renewed detection algorithm. This provides a unique and instinctive way to select a subject within a complex scene.

Both cameras have a large viewfinder with high brightness and resolution without blackouts. The EOS R1 offers the highest resolution with 9.44 million dots, while the EOS R5 Mark II is twice as bright as the EOS R5.

Through the new imaging platform, the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II have improved image quality with Deep Learning in-camera image upscaling and noise reduction. This provides four times the resolution or less noise when using JPEG or HEIF formats.
