Sony expanded its lens lineup with the introduction of the E PZ 10-20mm F4 G power-zoom G lens, the versatile E 15mm F1.4 G lens, and the E 11mm F1.8 ultra-wide prime.
E PZ 10-20mm F4 G
The E PZ 10-20mm F4 G is 20% lighter than its predecessor, the SEL1018, making it the smallest and lightest lens in its class. It weighs only 178 grams.
The lens also uses internal zoom and focus mechanisms, so its length does not change while zooming or focusing. Shifts in its center of gravity are minimal, making it suitable for stable vlogging and video recording.
The E PZ 10-20mm F4 G features an electronic power-zoom system for responsive control and adjustable zoom speed. Power zoom minimizes camera movement, helping photographers produce smooth, stable footage and assign controls on supported Alpha-series cameras.
Fast-moving subjects can be tracked reliably during high-speed continuous shooting.
Users can attach 62mm filters, such as variable ND filters, for greater creative control. The lens has a dust- and moisture-resistant design for added reliability outdoors.
E 15mm F1.4 G, 35mm
A large F1.4 maximum aperture makes it easy to create smooth background bokeh for an artistic effect. The background can be blurred to make subjects stand out, while low-light shots can feature attractive bokeh.
With a minimum focusing distance of 0.17 meters and maximum magnification of 0.15x when using manual focus, the lens makes it easy to capture close-ups in both stills and video.
The lightweight E 15mm F1.4 G lens weighs only 219 grams and measures just 66.6mm in diameter and 69.5mm long. Its wide angle of view, compact design, and low weight make it ideal for photographing starry skies, landscapes, architecture, and interiors, as well as subjects that require mobility, such as sports.
The camera’s speed can be used to focus accurately, even on moving subjects. Sony’s latest lens technology reduces focus breathing, while breathing compensation in compatible α-series camera bodies further minimizes breathing that could complicate post-production.
The focus-mode switch makes it possible to move quickly between AF and MF when needed. Finally, the E 15mm F1.4 G has a dust- and moisture-resistant design for added reliability outdoors in challenging conditions.
E 11mm F1.8, 35mm
The E 11mm F1.8’s ultra-wide angle of view is ideal for interiors and images that make creative use of depth of field.
The E 11mm F1.8, a 35mm-equivalent ultra-wide APS-C prime, delivers excellent corner-to-corner resolution, beautiful bokeh, and fast, reliable AF. This helps render facial expressions clearly and improve selfies.
The E 11mm F1.8 combines a large F1.8 maximum aperture with a compact, lightweight design. It weighs 181 grams and measures just 66mm in diameter and 57.5mm long—a perfect match for compact camera bodies in APS-C format.
Sony’s latest lens technology also reduces focus breathing here, while an internal focus mechanism keeps the lens length from changing during focusing.
Despite its compact size, this lens offers flexible, intuitive controls, including a focus-hold button and a focus-mode switch. Users can assign an alternative function of their choice to the focus-hold button through the camera menu.
Its dust- and moisture-resistant design adds reliability for outdoor use in challenging conditions.
The E 11mm F1.8 also accepts front filters, a feature often missing from ultra-wide lenses.
Availability
The E PZ 10-20mm F4 G and E 15mm F1.4 G were scheduled to be available in June for €850.00, while the E 11mm F1.8 was also scheduled for June at €600.00.
