Fine-art photographer Frank Peters received an honorable mention at the prestigious Prix de la Photographie Paris (PX3) for his series Clay Land . It was the third international honor for the series of landscapes from Zeelandic Flanders. The photographs also received honorable mentions at the Fine Art Photography Awards in London and the Minimalist Photography Awards.

In the series, Peters explores the character of the rural Zeelandic Flanders landscape in winter, with plowed fields and atmospheric weather such as clouds, rain, and fog. The few farms, country roads, and expansive views reveal a minimalist beauty that reflects the nature of this sparsely populated rural region.

A year earlier, another series of Peters’s photographs of Zeelandic Flanders had also won recognition. His snowy landscapes won an International Photography Award (IPA, New York) in the Minimalism category.

“I have lived in Zeelandic Flanders since 2017, and the winter landscape inspires me to create this kind of work. Summer in Zeeland is wonderful too, but I love the minimalist character, the space, and the desolate bleakness—which gives me precisely the opposite feeling from what its appearance might suggest—that you can find here at this time of year,” Peters said. One of the winter photographs was scheduled to be exhibited at large scale at Galerie T in Middelburg that October.
