A camera, a few lenses and you're ready to head out. For many photographers, an enjoyable photo walk starts with a modest kit. Think Tank's new FocusPoint Crossbody bags come in 8L and 13L sizes, with a wide rolltop opening and room for the everyday essentials you need along the way.
The FocusPoint Crossbody sits diagonally across your body. Its wide top opening lets you see what's inside, while adjustable dividers keep your camera and lenses in place. The closure combines magnets with an additional buckle.
We've already seen the FocusPoint name on Think Tank's RollTop backpacks. The Crossbody adds two smaller bags to the range for photographers who carry less gear and like to keep it close at hand.
How much gear do you carry?
According to Think Tank, the smaller bag holds a camera body with a compact zoom attached, plus two to four additional lenses. How many will actually fit depends on your lenses, of course. A few small primes take up much less space than a set of fast zooms.
The 8L also has a pocket for a small tablet. At about 30 centimetres wide and just over 700 grams empty, it's the more compact option. It makes sense for an afternoon in the city with a pared-down kit.
The 13L gives you more room to work with. Think Tank says it can hold a body with an f/2.8 standard zoom attached, plus two more f/2.8 zooms. You can also pack a detached 70–200mm f/2.8. The tablet pocket fits a 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
This version is about 38 centimetres wide and weighs around 900 grams, including the dividers and rain cover. The larger lenses will largely determine which size you need. Lay out the kit you usually take before deciding. That tells you more than the capacity in litres.
Room for your phone, too
A camera bag rarely carries only camera gear. Both sizes have a separate rear smartphone pocket and a front pocket with a key tether. There's also a hidden slot for an Apple AirTag.
The wide shoulder strap is padded and can be adjusted for carrying on either side. Breathable mesh sits against your body. When travelling, a luggage pass-through lets you slide the bag over a suitcase handle. These are small details, but they're the ones you use throughout a day out.
Rain cover included
Think Tank uses recycled, bluesign-approved fabrics and PFAS-free materials. The exterior has a water-repellent finish, and a rain cover with sealed seams is included for wet weather.
How comfortable the bag feels when fully loaded remains to be seen. A wide shoulder strap helps, but the weight of three fast zooms still rests on one shoulder. If you're walking for hours, it may be worth leaving something at home.
Price and availability
The FocusPoint Crossbody comes in Asphalt Black, Greenway and Urban Rust, in black, green and rust tones. Dutch prices are €145.99 for the 8L and €164.99 for the 13L, with delivery expected during October 2026.
When choosing a camera bag, start with the gear you actually use. A small kit keeps the contents easy to organise. If you regularly need larger zooms, the extra space in the 13L will be welcome. Just because another lens fits doesn't mean it has to come along.
