The Tamron 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 VC is a compact ultra-telephoto zoom that is suitable for Nikon Z mount full frame mirrorless cameras. This lens offers a focal length of 50mm to 400mm, which offers a wider range than the usual 100-400mm zoom lenses.
With a zoom ratio of 8x starting at 50mm, this lens combines a smaller and lighter design with greater versatility through a wider angle of view at the shortest zoom setting.
The 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 VC is remarkably compact, with a length of 185.8 mm and a weight of 1180 grams. Despite its compact size, the lens offers high image quality at all focal lengths, partly thanks to the strategic placement of special lens elements.
This lens uses Tamron's VXD linear focusing mechanism for quiet and responsive focusing, in combination with Tamron's VC image stabilization system, ensuring great versatility in different shooting situations.
50-400mm zoom
Telephoto lenses are usually used for photographing subjects at a distance, but the 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 VC also offers the option of capturing subjects up close. The lens can magnify up to half life size (1:2) for close-up photography and has a minimum focusing distance of 25 cm by 50 mm, making it suitable for detailed close-up shots. This means the lens offers extra flexibility within the range of a telephoto zoom.
The lens is designed with ergonomics in mind, with an improved housing for comfortable use and a USB-C port for Tamron's proprietary Lens Utility software. This software offers features such as a Focus Limiter to adjust the focus range. In addition, an Arca-Swiss compatible tripod collar is optionally available.
