At the time of publication, the Tamron 150-500mm F/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD (Model A057X), an ultra-telephoto zoom lens for the Fujifilm X mount, was Tamron’s third lens for the mount, alongside the Tamron 17-70mm F/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD (Model B070X) and the Tamron 18-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD (Model B061X).
The Tamron 150-500mm F/5-6.7 is based on the EISA Award-winning Sony FE-mount version and covers a full-frame-equivalent focal-length range of 225mm to 750mm on an APS-C camera such as the Fujifilm X-H2S, X-T4, or X-T30 II. It combines a compact design with very good image quality throughout the zoom range, from the center of the frame to the edges.

The new 150-500mm features Tamron’s precise and fast VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear-motor focusing mechanism and Tamron’s proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) system. At the 150mm setting, the lens also offers an exceptionally short minimum focusing distance of just 0.6 meters for powerful, dramatic close-ups.
Main Features
A Compact 750mm Telephoto Zoom Lens
The Tamron 150-500mm F/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD is only 209.6mm long, with a maximum diameter of 93mm. That is remarkably compact for a super-telephoto zoom that reaches 750mm on an APS-C mirrorless camera. Even when fully extended at the telephoto end, the lens remains compact at just 283mm long.
Another notable feature is the very short 75° rotation needed to zoom from 150mm to 500mm. The zoom ring covers the entire zoom range in less than a quarter turn. This allows photographers to adjust the angle of view quickly with minimal movement, helping prevent missed opportunities.
High Image Quality
The extensive and effective use of special lens elements—including one XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion), five LD (Low Dispersion), and two hybrid aspherical elements—thoroughly controls aberrations, including axial chromatic aberration. Because the 150-500mm F/5-6.7 was designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras, it delivers exceptionally high image quality on an APS-C sensor throughout the zoom range, both at the center and from edge to edge.

Tamron’s VXD AF Motor Delivers Speed, Precision, and Quiet Operation
The 150-500mm F/5-6.7 features Tamron’s VXD linear-motor focusing mechanism. VXD provides fast, highly precise movement and responsive performance. The linear motor also reduces the drive noise and vibrations produced during focusing compared with a conventional drive system, making the lens ideal for shooting both photos and video in quiet environments.
Tamron’s Renowned VC System Delivers Excellent Image Stabilization
The lens has a three-position VC mode selector switch, allowing photographers to choose the ideal VC mode for the shooting conditions. This feature provides powerful and effective image stabilization, significantly reducing blur caused by camera shake.
Unique Tele-Macro Images from Just 60cm Away
The minimum focusing distance of 60cm at the 150mm setting and just 1.8 meters at the 500mm setting is exceptionally short for a super-telephoto lens. As a result, the maximum magnification ratio at 150mm is also unusually high at 1:3.1. Photographers can create tele-macro images of subjects such as butterflies, insects, and flowers while maintaining a practical working distance.
