Sony is expanding its renowned Cinema Line with the introduction of the Sony FX5. This compact full-frame video camera bridges the gap between the FX3 and FX6 by integrating high-end cinema features such as Open Gate recording, internal 16-bit RAW, and Triple Base ISO directly into the body. The camera is available starting today for pre-order at Cameranu and is expected in early August 2026.
The FX5 was designed from the ground up for demanding professional filmmakers. Equipped with a new 16.6-megapixel stacked full-frame CMOS sensor that supports 5K Open Gate recording and the powerful Bionz XR2 processor, the camera delivers faster sensor readout, significantly reducing rolling shutter effects.
Open Gate allows filmmakers to use the entire sensor, making it easier to crop footage for anamorphic workflows and vertical videos.
