The lens can easily keep up with 120 fps continuous shooting on the Alpha 9 III, and its tracking performance has been significantly improved.
Compared with the 85mm F1.4 GM, the FE 85mm F1.4 GM II weighs 642 grams and is approximately 20% lighter and 13% smaller thanks to its latest mechanical technology and optical design. It has a φ77mm filter thread, a diameter of 84.7mm and a length of 107.3mm.
The front lens element has a fluorine coating, making dirt such as fingerprints and dust easy to remove. Its dust- and moisture-resistant design provides added reliability in challenging outdoor conditions.
Price and Availability
At the time of publication, the Sony FE 85mm F1.4 GM II was scheduled to become available in early September 2024 for approximately €2,100.
