The Sony FE 70-200mm F4 Macro G OSS II, with focal lengths ranging from 70 to 200 mm and a maximum aperture of F4, can be used with all Alpha E-mount cameras. At launch, it was Sony's 50th full-frame E-mount lens.
The FE 70-200mm F4 Macro G OSS II is a compact, lightweight telephoto zoom lens that can be used in a wide range of situations. With a total length of 149 mm and a weight of approximately 794 g (excluding the tripod mount), the FE 70-200mm F4 Macro G OSS II zoom lens can be used to capture a wide variety of subjects, including sports, landscapes, wild birds, and even macro photography.

Across the entire zoom range, the lens offers a maximum magnification of 0.5x (1:2), enabling half-macro photography.
This lens supports Sony's 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters, which are sold separately. With a super-telephoto reach of up to 400 mm (full-frame), distant subjects can be captured at a larger scale. When the 2.0x teleconverter (SEL20TC) is used, macro photos can be taken at up to 1:1 across the entire zoom range.
Sony's XD linear focusing motors increase AF speed by up to 20 percent compared with the previous model. Tracking performance for moving subjects has also been significantly improved over the previous model. This provides continuous, highly accurate subject tracking. Focus tracking performance while zooming has also been significantly improved. In combination with the Alpha 1, this makes it possible to shoot fast bursts at up to thirty frames per second.
This telephoto zoom lens also features a MODE3 SteadyShot setting, which optimizes image stabilization for tracking moving subjects. When paired with a compatible camera body, camera shake can be compensated for more effectively and movies can be recorded more steadily.
In addition to a focus range limiter and a Full-time DMF switch, the included detachable tripod mount provides extra stability for super-telephoto and macro photography.
The front lens element has a fluorine coating, making fingerprints, dust, oil, and other contaminants easy to remove from the lens surface. The design is also dust- and moisture-resistant for greater reliability when used outdoors in challenging conditions.
The Sony FE 70-200mm F4 Macro G OSS II was released in late July 2023 with a suggested retail price of approximately €2,000.
