The Sony FE 24-50mm F2.8 G lens maintains a maximum F2.8 aperture throughout its zoom range and delivers high resolution and attractive bokeh despite its compact, lightweight body. With focal lengths from 24 mm to 50 mm, this full-frame E-mount lens suits still photography—from everyday snapshots to portraits—as well as video.
With a new optical and mechanical design, Sony managed to keep the dimensions of this lens compact. This lens also has a filter diameter of 67 mm, a maximum diameter of 74.8 mm, a length of 92.3 mm and a weight of 440 g.
The FE 24-50mm F2.8 G uses four aspherical elements and two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements to deliver sharp, detailed images at every focal length, reduce chromatic aberration and maintain high resolution into the corners.
The FE 24-50mm F2.8 G also uses an 11-blade circular aperture. Together with optimized spherical aberration, this produces smooth, attractive bokeh. The lens focuses as close as 0.19 m (AF) at the wide-angle end and offers a maximum magnification of 0.30 x (AF).
Two linear motors provide fast, precise and quiet autofocus with accurate tracking. The lens supports high-speed continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking at up to 120 frames per second, for example with the Alpha 9 III).
The FE 24-50mm F2.8 G lens can also be used with focus breathing compensation, allowing high-quality image expression.
The lens is easy to use with a customizable focus knob, aperture ring, switch to turn the aperture click ON/OFF and a focus mode switch.
A fluorine coating helps prevent dirt from adhering to the front element. The dust- and moisture-resistant design also supports outdoor use in challenging conditions.
The new Sony FE 24-50mm F2.8 G lens had a launch price of € 1,300.
