Several years before the exhibition, Belgian photographer Harry Fayt made the transition to underwater photography. His work consists of remarkable images created beneath the water’s surface. The Amsterdam show at VondelCS marked the first solo exhibition of his photographs in the city.
Harry draws inspiration from the beauty of women combined with the theme of water. The originality and sometimes surreal settings in his work attract particular attention. His work has gained international recognition among the art world, galleries, and collectors. His distinctive style has also attracted renowned magazines, bloggers, and brands worldwide. In 2017, he was named to the Artists to Watch 2017 list and won a 2017 gold medal at the Trierenberg Super Circuit.
About Harry Fayt
Former studio photographer Harry Fayt (Liège, Belgium) worked primarily as a fashion photographer, until underwater photography crossed his path several years earlier.
In 2011, he decided to change course completely and enter the underwater world. Over the years, he developed from an underwater fashion photographer for various brands into a fine-art underwater photographer.
Since then, Harry Fayt has continually explored aesthetics in combination with the theme of water. Harry believes that anything possible above water can also be achieved underwater. The challenges he encounters while realizing his ideas are what drive him.
It is an ongoing experiment in which his photographs evolve into images that become increasingly interesting and compelling for the viewer. Harry Fayt feels like MacGyver, always exploring and devising solutions for his inexhaustible ideas.
