The World Photography Organization has announced the category winners and nominees in the Open competition of the Sony World Photography Awards 2023. The Dutch photographer Mieke Douglas is the winner in the Object category. Alex Pansier, Isabel Bielderman and Jessica Innemee were shortlisted in the respective categories Natural World & Wildlife, Landscape and Lifestyle.
More than a hundred photographers have been nominated for the 2023 competition, in addition to the ten category winners. More than two hundred thousand photos were submitted for the Open competition.

Mieke Douglas wins this prize with the photo Recycled, a 'trompe-l'oeil' shot of flower-like plastic bags and tulle arranged like a bouquet, inviting us to take a closer look.
The winners of the Student, Youth and Open competitions, as well as the Professional winners of the Sony World Photography Awards 2023 will be announced on April 13 and the winning and nominated images will be shown as part of the Sony World Photography Awards exhibition at Somerset House from April 14 to May 1, 2023.

The ten category winners of the Open competition will receive the latest digital imaging equipment from Sony and will then compete for the prestigious Open Photographer of the Yeartitle and a $5,000 (USD) prize.
