A completely new Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 70-200 f/2.8 ASPH. telephoto zoom lens and new Leica Extender L 2.0x expand the L-Mount range, completing the Trinity lenses for the Leica SL system.
A trinity consists of three zoom lenses, often with a fixed maximum aperture of f/2.8. These lenses give you the ability to cover a huge range of focal lengths, from wide angle to standard and telephoto, all with just three lenses in your bag.
If you have a Trinity, you can effortlessly switch from ultra-wide angle, ideal for breathtaking landscapes, to telephoto, which allows you to effortlessly capture distant details, and everything in between.
As a third zoom lens with an aperture of F/2.8 over the entire zoom range, the new Vario-Elmarit-SL 70-200 f/2.8 ASPH., along with the Super-Vario-Elmarit-SL 14-24 f/2.8 ASPH. and the Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-70 f/2.8 ASPH., a powerful trinity for the Leica SL system.
These three SL lenses make it possible to photograph and film with a continuous aperture over the entire focal range from 14mm ultra-wide angle to 200mm telephoto. At the same time, Leica Camera AG introduces a teleconverter for the telephoto Vario lenses with L-Mount. The Leica Extender L 2.0x extends the new SL lens to a maximum focal length of 400mm.
With the classic telephoto (zoom) focal length, this lens is suitable for portrait photography. The fixed f/2.8 aperture over the entire zoom range, in combination with effective image stabilization, also makes this new Vario zoom versatile for various applications, such as event, sports and nature photography.
The lens contains 20 lens elements divided into 15 groups, including three with aspherical surfaces, which ensure sharp and detailed images at any focal length, even in the corners of the frame. The internal focusing ensures that the total length of the lens remains the same, regardless of the chosen focal length, which makes operation pleasant.
The Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 70-200 f/2.8 ASPH is supplied with a tripod collar, which makes it possible to use the combination with an SL camera in good balance on a tripod.
With the new, separately available Leica Extender L 2.0x the focal length of the new Vario telephoto zoom can be extended from 70-200mm to 140-400mm. In addition, the Extender is also compatible with the current Leica Vario-Elmar-SL 1:5–6.3/100–400, reaching a super-telephoto maximum focal length of no less than 800 mm.
The Extender L 2.0x takes up little space in the camera bag, but offers plenty of additional options to realize creative visions.
