Frank Peters Wins IPA Award for Minimalism | Fotografie.nl

Photographer Frank Peters from Zeelandic Flanders won at the International Photography Awards (IPA, New York) with two winter photographs of Zeelandic Flanders. He placed first in the Fine Art Minimalism category. He also received several honorable mentions for photographs of Cadzand-Bad and Ouddorp in South Holland.

The IPA is one of the world’s most prestigious photography competitions, attracting tens of thousands of photographers each year.

The winning photographs were made that winter in the snow-covered polder landscape of western Zeelandic Flanders. “The landscape lends itself very well to minimalist photography because it is vast and empty.”

The honorable mentions were awarded to photographs of the “ugly” structure in the  sea  off Cadzand and the jetty at the Ouddorp boathouse, which is well known among  fine-art  and landscape photographers.

The award-winning photographs are part of Peters’ personal work. He had also recently published his photography book  The Story of My Light  , featuring the stories behind photographs from various journeys through Europe and the United States. Peters works as a travel photographer for Bergen Magazine (NL/BE), Wandel Magazine, and Reishonger.nl, and his work has appeared in the Dutch newspapers Trouw and de Volkskrant.

His personal work is artistic: minimalist landscapes in black and white, sometimes transitioning into color.
