The Fujifilm X-H2S is a versatile APS-C mirrorless camera in Fujifilm’s X Series, designed for professional photographers and videographers. Its all-new 26.16 MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HS sensor and X-Processor 5 improve speed, image quality, and ease of use.
Fast and accurate performance
The new stacked backside-illuminated CMOS 5 HS sensor reads data four times faster than its predecessor, enabling performance such as blackout-free bursts at up to 40 frames per second.
The new sensor and image processor also have more buffer memory, allowing the camera to capture significantly more images in continuous mode. With the electronic shutter, it can record up to 1,000 consecutive images at 30 fps in JPEG or 20 fps in RAW.
Improved autofocus, including AI-powered subject recognition, can detect and track people, animals, and vehicles. This fast, accurate AF makes the camera particularly well suited to sports, action, and wildlife photography.
X-Processor 5
The completely redesigned image processor is twice as fast as the previous model. ISO performance has also improved, reducing noise when the camera is set to higher ISO settings.
Advanced video capabilities
The Fujifilm X-H2S also excels at video. It can record 6.2K/30p and 4K/120p slow motion. Internal 4:2:2 10-bit recording and codecs such as Apple ProRes 422 HQ support a professional workflow. The design minimizes rolling-shutter effects, while F-Log2 provides up to 14+ stops of dynamic range for color grading in post-production.
An improved heat-dissipation system allows up to 240 minutes of 4K/60p recording, while an optional external cooling fan extends recording in warm conditions.
Stable and versatile
The built-in five-axis image stabilization system (IBIS) provides up to 7 stops of stabilization, helping produce sharp images in low light or without a tripod. The rugged aluminum body is dust- and weather-resistant and operates at temperatures down to -10°C, making it suitable for demanding professional conditions.
Ergonomic and easy to use
The Fujifilm X-H2S has an improved grip, a dedicated video button, and a new vari-angle 1.62-million-dot LCD for easier operation. Controls such as the AF-ON button have been repositioned, and the shutter is rated for 500,000 actuations. A CFexpress Type B slot supports fast data transfer for long video recordings and large photo sequences.
Compared with its predecessors
Compared with its predecessor, the X-H2S offers a much faster processor, improved AF algorithms, and a higher-performance sensor. Stacked-sensor technology, AI features, and stronger video capabilities make it a substantial upgrade.
Applications and intended users
The X-H2S is aimed at professional action, nature, and sports photographers and videographers, as well as multimedia content producers. Its combination of speed, precision, and versatility makes it a powerful tool for demanding users.
The Fujifilm X-H2S became available in July 2022 for €2,499.
