The key difference from earlier Pocket models is its redesigned dual-camera system. It combines a 1-inch wide-angle camera with a medium telephoto lens, allowing you to capture both expansive scenes and tighter portraits.

Wide-angle camera with a 1-inch sensor
The main camera uses an updated 1-inch CMOS sensor. That larger sensor format should primarily improve dynamic range, image quality, and performance in challenging light. DJI specifies 17 stops of dynamic range thanks to LOFIC technology. In practical terms, this should allow the camera to retain more detail in both bright and dark areas, for example in harsh daylight or high-contrast scenes.
For post-production, the camera supports 10-bit D-Log 2. This captures more color information, providing greater latitude to adjust the image to your taste during editing. The wide-angle camera also supports 4K slow motion at up to 240 frames per second.
Medium telephoto lens for portraits and zoom
In addition to the wide-angle camera, the Osmo Pocket 4P has a medium telephoto lens. Its fast f/1.8 aperture is intended for tighter framing, portraits, and subjects you want to bring somewhat closer. The camera offers 3x optical zoom and can zoom digitally up to 12x.
With this lens, slow-motion video is also possible at up to 4K and 200 frames per second. That makes the second lens useful not only for portraits, but also for details on the go, product shots, or footage where you want to maintain more distance from your subject.
Mechanical stabilization remains its strength
As with earlier Pocket cameras, the mechanical three-axis gimbal remains an important feature. This stabilization compensates for movement while walking, panning, or shooting handheld. It allows you to create relatively smooth footage without an extra rig or separate gimbal. Those who primarily film with a smartphone can also consider the DJI Osmo Mobile 7 Series.
ActiveTrack 8.0 is included as well. It allows the camera to automatically follow a subject and keep it in frame. According to the specifications, this also works while zooming, which is especially useful with moving subjects or when filming yourself. It is reminiscent of how modern smartphone gimbals with AI tracking use subject tracking to make solo filming easier.
A compact camera for the road
The Osmo Pocket 4P weighs 230 grams, clearly keeping it focused on mobile use. It is easy to take on a trip, a walk, or an assignment where you need to switch quickly between photos, video, and short social clips.
Support for 4K Live Photos is also new. The camera automatically records one and a half seconds before and after you press the shutter button, including ambient sound. This makes it easier to preserve brief moving moments without immediately starting a full video recording.
The camera will be available in Pearl White and the classic dark finish.
