With the Avata 360, DJI introduces a drone built entirely around high-resolution 360-degree imaging. The model records in 8K, captures 120-megapixel photos, and offers extensive freedom to reframe footage in post-production.
The Avata 360 comes with the DJI RC331 Smart Controller, allowing flight and recording to be controlled directly from its built-in screen.
Where the earlier DJI Avata focused primarily on compact FPV flying, the Avata 360 now emphasizes 360-degree capture and greater freedom in post-production.
Sensors
For image capture, the drone uses two 1/1.1-inch square CMOS sensors, each with 64 megapixels. In 360-degree mode, DJI says this provides an imaging area comparable to a 1-inch sensor on each side. This should help deliver more detail in highlights and shadows, as well as greater dynamic range.

Image Quality
DJI equips the Avata 360 with support for 8K HDR video at up to 60 frames per second. For photography, it can capture 120-megapixel 360-degree photos. That high resolution gives users extra room to crop images or adjust the perspective afterward without immediately sacrificing too much quality.
Two Modes
The drone offers two different filming modes. The 360-degree mode focuses on capturing the complete surroundings and providing flexibility in post-production. There is also a Single Lens mode for more conventional aerial footage in 4K at 60 fps. This makes the Avata 360 suitable both for panoramic capture and for more direct, traditional aerial camerawork.
Stabilization
For stable footage, DJI combines a single-axis mechanical tilt gimbal with a virtual 360-degree gimbal. Systems including RockSteady and HorizonBalancing are also present to correct vibrations and unwanted tilting. Users who want more dynamism in their footage can also use an FPV gimbal mode that adds a natural roll effect.

Safety
For safety, the drone has omnidirectional obstacle detection in 360-degree mode. It uses a forward-facing LiDAR sensor and infrared sensors on the underside. This is designed mainly to help with more complex tracking shots and flights in challenging environments.
Connectivity
For the live view, the Avata 360 uses DJI’s O4+ video transmission, providing a 1080p/60fps feed. DJI specifies a maximum range of 10 kilometers under European CE standards. The drone also has 42 GB of internal storage, allowing users to record immediately even without an external memory card.
According to DJI, the Avata 360 has a maximum flight time of approximately 23 minutes per battery.
Controller
The included DJI RC331 Smart Controller has a built-in screen, so users do not need a separate smartphone for operation. This makes the kit more straightforward to use and provides direct access to the live view and settings while flying.

Regulations
Flying a drone also means dealing with laws and regulations. Where you may fly and under which conditions depends on the location and circumstances. It therefore remains important to check in advance which rules apply and whether a flight is permitted at the chosen location.
