The Xperia 1 VII, Sony's new smartphone, was designed in collaboration with the engineers behind Sony Alpha cameras, the Walkman, and BRAVIA TVs, and features the latest technologies. New functions such as 'AI Camerawork' and 'Auto Framing' now let you create stable, well-composed video footage.
Ultra-wide-angle lens
The Xperia 1 VII has three rear cameras. This smartphone features a 16 mm ultra-wide-angle lens equipped with a larger 48 MP 1/1,56-inch sensor, approximately 2,1 times larger than the previous model, allowing you to take clear photos at night.

The quality of these photos is comparable to that of photos captured with full-frame cameras, with little noise and a wide dynamic range. The camera on the Xperia 1 VII produces minimal distortion and can also capture close-ups from approximately 5 cm away for macro photography.
The wide-angle lens on the Xperia 1 VII offers 24-48 mm (equivalent to 2x optical zoom) and is equipped with the 'Exmor T for mobile' sensor, which also delivers excellent performance in low light. Thanks to this sensor, it is possible to create high-quality, bright, and sharp video footage even when cropping the image with the AI Camera Work and Auto Framing functions.
While the telephoto lens of the Sony Xpera 1V reached 125 mm, the 1V II offers an optical zoom range of 85-170 mm, allowing you to capture distant subjects in high resolution.

New functions: 'AI Camera Work' & 'Auto Framing’
The new 'AI Camera Work' function helps you create stable, professional-quality video footage, keeping the subject centered even as you walk around while filming a moving subject.
Powerful image stabilization and human pose detection technology make this possible, keeping the position of your subject consistent. This allows even the most inexperienced camera users to create professional videos with their smartphones.
The 'Auto Framing' function uses AI to track your subject and automatically crop the image so that it is positioned in the center of the screen. When filming a moving subject, you only need to point the camera toward the subject, and it will then automatically follow your subject.
Smooth, stable video footage, without having to look at the screen.
The Auto Framing function lets you capture two types of videos: one showing the entire scene and one that crops your image to focus on a close-up of the subject.
BRAVIA image quality
To improve the viewing experience for Xperia users in overexposed conditions, an additional light sensor has been added to the back of the Xperia 1 VII, allowing the screen's brightness and color to be optimally adjusted to the conditions.

Whether you are outdoors in bright sunlight or indoors in dim light, the Xperia 1 VII accurately detects the ambient brightness and optimally adjusts the brightness, color gamut, and color temperature to the surroundings. Outdoors, the combination of an improved display with peak brightness and the 'Sunlight Vision' function improves visibility in direct sunlight, providing a comfortable user experience.
Powerful performance, efficient operation
The Xperia 1 VII is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, making the NPU, CPU, and GPU considerably faster and more energy-efficient. Thanks to these improvements, the device performs smoothly when using AI functions, photography, and gaming, while keeping battery consumption low.
Sustainable
The product's box is made from Sony's Original Blended Material, an environmentally conscious material, creating a completely plastic-free packaging solution. In addition, approximately 84% of the materials used for some components inside and outside the device consist of environmentally conscious plastics, such as SORPLAS, made from recycled and plant-based resin.
Price and availability
The Xperia 1 VII was offered at launch on May 13, 2025, in Slate Black, Moss Green, and Orchid Purple, with a recommended retail price of approximately € 1.499,-.
