Rollei begins a new chapter in its long history with the introduction of its first lens, the Rollei AF 85mm F/1.8. The lens is compatible with Sony FE and Nikon Z mounts. With the launch of the VAF series, Rollei expands its product portfolio with lenses designed specifically for modern full-frame mirrorless cameras.
The 85mm focal length has traditionally been popular for portrait photography. With its maximum aperture of F/1.8, the lens delivers strong low-light performance and a shallow depth of field. Eleven rounded aperture blades produce smooth bokeh.

The optical design consists of ten elements in seven groups, including two ED and two HR elements. It is designed to deliver high sharpness into the corners and minimize chromatic aberrations. An HFT-X coating helps reduce reflections and ghosting.
The lens uses an STM motor for quiet, fast autofocus and supports face and eye detection. Its minimum focusing distance is 0.85 meters, with a maximum magnification of 0.12x.
Despite its metal housing, the lens weighs just 477 grams. The Sony FE version has a linear aperture ring with stepless operation for video. Both versions include an AF/MF switch, a programmable function button and a USB-C port for firmware updates. The filter size is 62mm.

Both lenses feature precision metal mounts—E-mount and Z-mount, respectively—with full EXIF data transfer and a USB-C port for firmware updates in just 30 seconds. The 62mm filter thread is compatible with all standard filters in the company’s range.
