Canon introduces the RF-S 7.8mm F4 STM DUAL lens, a compact option for capturing high-quality 3D photos and videos. This new lens offers an accessible way to explore the world of spatial video, especially when paired with an EOS R-series APS-C camera.
With a 63-degree field of view, designed to match human vision, this lens enables images that add spaciousness and depth to the viewing experience.
The lens is compatible with the EOS R7 camera, which allows creators to capture spatial video that can be experienced not only on high-end VR headsets, but also on smartphones via VR glasses, cardboard headsets and even handheld display devices for printed images.
The RF-S 7.8mm F4 STM DUAL lens weighs just 130 grams and is equipped with quiet and smooth STM autofocus, making it easy to capture detailed 3D images for a variety of applications. Think of realistic photos and videos of cultural events, product presentations or walk-through videos for real estate and hotels.
An update to the EOS VR Utility app makes it easy to customize footage captured with this lens for playback on Apple Vision Pro headsets. For Mac users, the app offers the option to export images in the MV-HEVC codec.
