The rear-focusing design lets the lens focus very close to a subject and reduces focus breathing during focusing to less than one-third of that produced by the EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM.
The Nano USM focusing motor provides fast, smooth, and quiet autofocus, while the constant f/4 maximum aperture remains unchanged throughout the zoom range, preventing variations in shutter speed or ISO while zooming.
