Simple cameras have attracted a remarkable amount of attention again in recent years. The new Yashica Tank is the more serious of the two. It is a lightweight 125-gram compact camera with a retro body and faux-leather finish. The camera is available in Pink Marshmallow, Sky Blue, Black, and Brown. Yashica is releasing the Funtastic in several versions, including a classic Yashica Boy Adventure, two Peanuts/Snoopy editions, and a Hello Kitty edition. This pushes photography even further toward the realm of lifestyle accessories. You probably do not buy a camera like this because you are looking for the best sensor, but because it adds something cheerful and unexpected to taking pictures.

The Tank and Funtastic fit neatly into the current retro and digicam trend. Many people actually enjoy taking a break from shooting with their phone. A small camera encourages you to look differently, even when its technical quality remains modest.
