Photographer Ada den Hartigh won the audience award in Fotografie.nl’s Fall 2020 Photo Contest. She received a Forex wall print from Fotofabriek.nl and a T-shirt of her choice from the Fotokadoshop for her colorful photograph of the autumn forest at Solse Gat.
Solse Gat is located in the Speulderbos and Sprielderbos forests between Garderen and Putten. It is a clay pit formed when a large block of ice pushed the ground downward, creating small hills around its edges. In the Middle Ages, local farmers dug clay here, making the pit even deeper. Speulderbos is one of the oldest forests in the Netherlands.
The Fotografie.nl editors wrote: “This photo has warmth and depth, giving viewers plenty to linger over. It feels as though a story is being told—one that makes you pause for a moment.”
A total of 320 photographs were submitted to the contest, and the public cast 1,765 votes.
