The Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD (Model A067) is a new standard-to-telephoto zoom lens for full-frame Sony E-mount cameras. Its 8x zoom range begins at an unusually wide 50mm—the standard focal length for full-frame cameras—yet the lens is similar in size to existing 100-400mm zooms. That wider angle of view makes it considerably more versatile.
At just 18.3cm long and 1.2 kilograms, the lens is compact and lightweight for a 400mm telephoto zoom. Despite its size and weight, it delivers excellent image quality at every focal length.
Despite the high magnification factor, this ultra-telephoto zoom lens provides high image quality over the entire range of 50-400mm due to the effective placement of special lens elements.
The Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD delivers excellent autofocus performance in a wide range of conditions. Tamron’s linear focusing motor responds quickly and operates quietly, while image stabilization in this type of lens makes handheld shooting practical even at 400mm.
For close-up photography, the lens offers magnification up to half life-size, further increasing its versatility. These close-focusing capabilities let photographers explore semi-macro photography.
The minimum focusing distance at 50mm is 25cm, measured from the sensor. The lens has a filter size of 67mm, just like most other Tamron lenses for the Sony E-Mount. If you use multiple Tamron lenses, you only need one filter set. This increases ease of use.
The lens also has several ergonomic features, including a redesigned grip and a USB-C Connector Port for Tamron Lens Utility software. The port lets you connect the lens directly to a laptop or desktop computer.
The software lets you customize lens functions and install firmware updates. Tamron Lens Utility also includes a Focus Limiter function. An optional Arca-Swiss-compatible tripod collar is available for added convenience when using the lens on a tripod.

At the time of publication, the new Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD (Model A067) was available in the Netherlands at a recommended retail price of €1,449.99 including VAT.
