The Tamron 150-500mm F5-6.7 reaches 500mm at the telephoto end while remaining remarkably compact and delivering high image quality throughout the zoom range. It enables spontaneous ultra-telephoto shooting in situations that once routinely called for a tripod.
This ultra-telephoto zoom features Tamron’s precise, fast VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear-motor autofocus and proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation). At 150mm, the versatile lens has a minimum object distance of 0.6m for powerful, dramatic close-ups.
Product features
A compact full-frame 500mm lens that challenges traditional thinking
The 150-500mm F5-6.7 is only 212.3mm long with a maximum diameter of 93mm, a compact size for a 500mm ultra telephoto zoom for full-frame mirrorless cameras. Even extended to 500mm telephoto, the lens is still remarkably compact, at just 287.3mm.

On a Nikon Z APS-C mirrorless camera, the angle of view of the lens is comparable to a zoom range of 225-750mm on full frame, due to the crop factor.
Exceptional image quality
The optical construction has 25 elements in 16 groups. Special lens elements ensure exceptional image quality. These elements thoroughly control aberrations, including axial chromatic aberrations. This allows photographers to enjoy high resolution across the entire image, from edge to edge.
VXD AF motor offers high speed, high precision and low noise
The 150-500mm F5-6.7 is equipped with the VXD autofocus mechanism with linear motor. VXD delivers fast and highly accurate focusing and ensures fast responses. Even when shooting at 500mm, the lens still focuses quickly and accurately, from close up to far away.

Thanks to the high-quality tracking when focusing, you can also successfully capture fast-moving subjects. The ultra-quiet linear motor also reduces drive noise and vibration produced during focusing (compared to a conventional drive system). This makes it ideal for taking both photos and videos in low-noise environments.
TAMRON's acclaimed image stabilization
This compact 150-500mm F5-6.7 is equipped with TAMRON's VC mechanism for excellent image stabilization, which efficiently reduces image blur caused by camera shake.
This functionality supports handheld shooting in low-light situations, such as at night and indoors, without the use of a tripod.
Due to the design and functionality of the Nikon Z cameras, the VC (Vibration Compensation) must be enabled or disabled directly on the camera. That is why there is no special switch for VC on the lens.

The telephoto macro function allows for close-up shots
The 150-500mm F5-6.7 offers excellent close-up capability for an ultra-telephoto zoom. Its MOD is 0.6m at 150mm and 1.8m at 500mm. At 150mm, its maximum magnification ratio is an unusually high 1:3.1. Users can create powerful take telephoto macro photos from a relatively long working distance.
Equipped with a "Linear/Non-Linear" focus switch
The Nikon Z mount is equipped with a Linear/Non-Linear switch, which improves the manual focusing experience. This feature provides flexibility so you can tailor your shots to the scenario, especially when you focus on precision with distant subjects.
In Non-linear mode, the focus movement varies with the speed at which you turn the focus ring.
In contrast, in linear mode, the focus movement is determined by the amount of rotation of the focus ring.

If you continuously turn the focus ring in LINEAR mode, the focus shifts from the closest focusing distance to infinity in a range of 360°.
Compatible with Tamron Lens Utility Software
TAMRON Lens Utility software allows users to configure their compatible lenses directly from a computer. The TLU software not only allows you to set various lens functions, but also perform firmware updates.
It offers personal adjustments for flexible shooting options tailored to different scenarios, including photography and video. These personal settings allow photographers to tailor the lens to their specific shooting needs. The lens has a built-in USB-C port for connecting to a computer.
Tamron BBAR-G2 Anti-Reflection coating
The Tamron Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2 Coating delivers stunning clarity and contrast in every shot.

Moisture-resistant construction and fluorine coating provide extra protection
Tamron's moisture-resistant construction provides a protective barrier that helps prevent the lens from being damaged by moisture or rain. In addition, there is the Tamron Fluorine Coating on the front lens that repels water and oil, making it easier to wipe away smudges, fingerprints and dirt and preventing condensation on the lens surface.
Additional functions for greater ease of use
• Lens hood with a flexible protective front section.
• The rotation of the zoom ring is only 75°.
• FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism for greater ease of use.
• Switches designed for ease of use.
• A Arca-Swiss compatible tripod collar, with mounting holes for a carrying strap, is supplied as standard.
