The Sony World Photography Awards announced thirty finalists and more than sixty-five shortlisted photographers for the 2026 Professional Competition. The competition focuses on series and projects that bring technique and storytelling together. According to the organization, more than 430,000 entries were submitted from over two hundred countries and territories.
The ten category winners were selected from the finalists and announced at a ceremony in London on April 16, 2026. That same evening, Citlali Fabián was named Photographer of the Year.

The winner received a $25,000 cash prize, a package of Sony Digital Imaging equipment, and a solo presentation at the following year’s London exhibition.
Dutch photographer Peter Lipton was shortlisted in the Architecture & Design category.
A selection of work by finalists and shortlisted photographers was shown at Somerset House from April 17 through May 4, 2026, as part of the Sony World Photography Awards 2026 Exhibition. The exhibition then traveled to other locations.
