The Sony FE 16mm F1.8 G wide-angle lens with large aperture is a premium, ultra-wide-angle G Lens with high resolution. Thanks to the compact and lightweight design, the lens is easy to carry. In combination with the latest cameras from the Sony Alpha series, this lens is suitable for capturing landscapes, architecture and starry skies, close-up shots and offers accurate and quiet autofocus (AF).
The FE 16mm F1.8 G is a wide-angle lens designed for detailed and dynamic image display. The optical design contains two AA (Advanced Aspherical) elements, which contribute to high image resolution at different aperture settings.
In addition, a Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element, in combination with three ED elements, helps to reduce chromatic aberration right to the edges of the image.
This G Lens offers a soft bokeh view thanks to the large maximum aperture of F1.8 and the circular aperture with 11 blades. The lens performs well in close-ups, with a minimum focusing distance of 0.15 m / 0.5 ft and a maximum magnification of 0.25x when using autofocus (0.13 m, 0.30x with manual focus). This makes it possible to capture wide-angle perspectives with smooth and refined bokeh.
Two XD (Extreme Dynamic) linear motors ensure fast and precise autofocus and tracking. A specially developed control algorithm for these motors improves response and reduces lag and vibration that can typically occur.
For smooth video images, lens technology helps reduce focus breathing. In addition, the breathing compensation function is supported on compatible Alpha cameras, and the in-body Active Mode image stabilization makes it easier to record stable wide-angle videos, even during movement. The lens is compatible with standard 67mm front filters and easy to balance on a gimbal.
The lens is equipped with a focus ring, focus hold button, focus mode switch, aperture ring and iris lock switch, with the focus hold button also having customizable functions. The aperture ring provides manual control and features a click ON/OFF switch for added flexibility.
The focus mode switch allows you to easily switch between autofocus and manual focus. In addition, the dust and moisture resistant design, together with the fluorine coating on the front lens element, contributes to durability and reliability.
