When Should You Use a Lensbaby Lens?
Before I tell you anything about this lens, first a warning: people have become addicted to it! You have no idea how often photographer friends who bought a Lensbaby lens no longer wanted to take it off their camera. They shoot everything with it, from the birth of their child to the launch of a space shuttle.
These lenses (which you focus with your thumbs and index fingers) are simply addictive. Consider yourself warned. Lensbaby lenses make a small area of the photo sharp and in focus, while everything around it quickly falls out of focus and becomes blurred. The result is an image full of energy, motion, and life.
Of course, the effect is only part of these lenses' appeal. What people really become addicted to is the hands-on experience. It is not as though you simply take the photo; it feels as though you truly make it yourself. I immediately reach for this lens when... I feel like getting truly creative.
