‘With this photograph of Beyoncé—which appeared in De Telegraaf at the time—I won second prize in the Art & Culture category of the Zilveren Camera awards. She descended onto the stage upside down on a rope. It was exactly the same gimmick Robbie Williams had used shortly before at the ArenA, which rather surprised me.’

‘In any case, the opening quickly turned into a wild dance scene. It became a photograph full of expression and energy, thanks to that wild mane of hair. She is also looking straight into my camera. A matter of luck—or exactly the right timing, which of course sounds much better, haha!’
