Nikon has released firmware version 1.10 for the ZR, the full-frame camera from the Z Cinema series. The update introduces a significantly longer maximum recording time, expanded timecode support and various improvements that are particularly useful for professional film and documentary makers.
Main improvements in firmware 1.10
- Longer maximum recording time
The maximum recording time has been extended from 125 minutes to 360 minutes (6 hours). This makes the camera more suitable for long-term recordings such as interviews, events and documentaries. - Timecode input via wired connection
Support for timecode input via the external microphone jack/line input makes it easier to synchronize video with audio recording equipment and other cameras. - RED-like filename structure
File names now follow a format similar to that of RED cameras, allowing for more efficient data management, especially in multi-camera productions. - Warning line for maximum brightness
When recording R3D NE videos in Log3G10, a warning line can now be displayed in histogram and waveform monitor when the maximum brightness level is reached. This helps you set the exposure more accurately. - Import more LUTs
The number of 3D LUTs that can be imported from a memory card has been increased from 10 to 50, giving on-site users more choice in visual styles. - Adjustable camera-on light
The new option Power saving camera on light makes it possible to leave the light on permanently, so that it is always visible whether the camera is on — even when the monitor is closed. - R3D NE 12-bit in automatic mode
In recording mode AUTOMATIC can now be used as a file type R3D NE 12-bit (R3D) be selected, making cinematic video recording more accessible.
