Nikon expands its range of professional flashes with the new SB-5000. This versatile Nikon Speedlight is the company's first with radio control and the world's first compact flash with a built-in cooling system.
The SB-5000 was developed for challenging shooting situations and is ideal for professional photographers who need the flexibility to work with complex setups using flashes both on and off camera. Radio-controlled wireless operation eliminates the need for a direct line of sight between the master and remote flashes and improves reliability when shooting in bright sunlight.
The compact flash's new cooling system allows 120 photos to be taken at 5-second intervals, or 84 photos at 3-second intervals, without the flash overheating.
Key specifications: the SB-5000 has a guide number of 34.5, a wide FX-format zoom range of 24-200 mm (14 mm with the built-in wide-angle diffuser), and three illumination patterns.
The compact flash weighs just 420 grams. Its uncluttered control panel features a large, easy-to-read information display. The flash head can tilt down to 7° or up to 90° and rotate horizontally through 180° to either the right or the left.
At launch, the Nikon SB-5000 Speedlight was scheduled to go on sale in March 2016 at a suggested retail price of EUR 679.
