Photographer Roel Visser (1952) always has his camera with him. After all, you never know. When looking at his photos, you quickly notice what intrigues him, what has his attention and where his critical eye is drawn. Visser's street photography paints a picture of the times with the behaviors, clothing and social context that go with it.
In Look at us In the period from 2020 to 2022, we will look at the world around us through Visser's eyes. What we see is not always beautiful or uplifting, but it is human. He makes us think: do we feel compassion for the people in his photos or annoyance and disgust? And what does that tell us about the people portrayed, but especially about ourselves?
Visser's style is raw, direct and with humor. The photos are not just a snapshot but tell a story story. They make you think and wonder how the subjects are doing now.

Roel Visser started his career at the Nieuwe Revu as a classic social photographer. After five years he switched to the weekly magazine De Tijd, for which he made several social reports.
During the merger of de Tijd and the Haagse Post into HP/de Tijd, his work slowly changed in tone and style. Consumer society now became the leitmotif, something that Tijd, Het Parool and finally HP/de Tijd offered him space for every week.
Roel Visser has won several prizes, national and international. Several books have also been published with his work, including: The nineties and Here in Holland.
