How to: Adjust Overall Exposure
There are several ways to change the light intensity of a photo. A commonly used method is the Exposure slider in the Basic panel.
This control mainly adjusts the midtone range of the photo, without affecting the very lightest (white) and very dark (black) tones. So the effect on the overall appearance of the photo is significant.
In older versions of Camera Raw, this feature was called Brightness, which made its purpose clearer: adjusting the brightness of a photo.
By moving the Exposure slider to the right, you lighten the photo; moving it to the left makes it darker.
