Arts, Culture and Entertainment: Jan BouwhuisOn Tuesday, March 25, the Gelderland News Photo 2013 awards were presented. Broer van den Boom was named the 2013 overall winner for his photograph of the funeral of soccer icon Theo Bos.
Photojournalists and news photographers submitted their best news photographs to compete for a prestigious professional jury award, an audience award, and a children’s jury award. Gelderland News Photo 2013 was organized by the Foto21 Foundation in Bredevoort, CODA Museum in Apeldoorn, the newspapers de Gelderlander and de Stentor, and the Province of Gelderland.
That year, 47 press photographers submitted images. The photographs had to have appeared in the media in 2013, been taken in Gelderland, and covered a Gelderland news story. The professional jury consisted of Jan Terlouw (chair), Ad van Lit, Huub Kerkhoffs, and Michiel Wijnbergh.
